Intensive Treatment Clinics For Adults & Older Teens

Our treatment clinics take a long-term approach to supporting adults and older teens (15+) who want to learn techniques for controlling their speech.

Clients spend more than 100 hours working on fluency and communication skills during the intensive program - but it doesn't end there. Controlling speech takes daily practice, and our speech-language team follows up with clients to bolster their progress after the clinic ends. Clients meet with a therapist six months and one year later, with annual phone follow-ups for five years ( for free) and additional refresher opportunities throughout the year ( for a fee).

During the intensive sessions, clients practice and develop their skills by going on group outings and bringing friends and family to class for special activities. Scheduled for maximum use of evenings and weekends, the program requires only one week away from work or school.

Schedule - 2011 Summer Program

This year, our intensive stuttering treatment program for older teens and adults will be held August 5-14 and August 26th-28th. Please note that this is one program in two parts, not two different programs. The fee is $4200.

Included in the clinic fee:

  • Assessment
  • Treatment clinic
  • Completer weekend
  • Progress summary report
  • Individual follow up sessions at 6 and 12 months
  • Follow-up telephone calls at 2, 3, 4, 5 years post-clinic

Group refresher clinics and extra follow-up for individuals are available for additional fees. Graduates of the stuttering program may repeat the intensive session for a reduced fee.

B.C. residents 19 or older may be eligible for full funding on a "first come first served" basis.  Criteria for this funding is not based on your financial situation. Please visit the Fred Gingell Memorial Treatment Program page for more funding information.
